Cowhide Patch Rugs
Cowhide patch rugs are created using remnants of cowhide that are not quite good enough to sell as a complete cowhide. They may have certain damage or seeding that makes it unattractive as a whole piece.
There are essentially two types of cowhide patch rugs. There are those that are created using a machine stitch, and have a cotton backing with bordering for a finish. These are generally made in India and cheaper than those detailed below. Usually the design are smaller diamond or square mosaic type designs.
And there are those that are made with larger diamonds or squares, have no backing and are stitched together using a leather thread and this is done by hand. These usually feature larger type squares or diamonds and the quality of the cowhide is usually relatively good. These are often made in Argentina and Brazil.
